Beryllium, when added in trace contents in copper, is known to improve its tensile properties. Copper beryllium components such as a C17500 Beryllium Copper Rod tend to have high thermal conductivity and electrical conductivity properties as well as high tensile strength. The tensile strength of the DIN 2.1285/2.0850 CuCo2Be Beryllium Copper Hexagon bar could be developed by processing the alloy via means of either age hardening or precipitation hardening processes. The weldability of this alloy is good.

Hence, various conventional methods could be used to weld this  Beryllium Copper Rod. Methods such as brazing, seam welding, gas shielded arc welding, soldering, coated metal arc welding, spot welding, as well as butt welding are highly recommended by manufacturers for welding the CDA Grade 1751 Round Rods. Yet, the same manufacturers do not recommend the use of  Oxyacetylene welding for this type of alloys.

Because of their combination of attractive properties such as high electrical conductivity, and thermal conductivity, these Copper-Cobalt-Beryllium Rods could be used in numerous industrial applications. Along with these properties, the Beryllium Copper C17510 Welding Rods exhibits properties such as high strength and hardness, elasticity, nonmagnetic properties, as well as good resistance to corrosion and good fatigue resistance.
