Amongst all the austenitic stainless steel alloys, grade 310 is a heat resistant material. The oxidation resistance properties of this alloy are categorized as being excellent. Especially since the stainless steel 310 round bars are able to resist oxidation between mildly cyclic conditions, up to an elevated temperature of 2000°F. What makes this alloy different is its chemistry. The higher contents of both nickel, as well as chromium added in 310 stainless steel rod, ensures a better yield in the mechanical and corrosion resistance properties. Unlike the other austenitic stainless steel grades, these 310 Steel Cold Finished Bars make themselves useful particularly in cryogenic applications at temperatures that could go as low as -450°F.

The AISI 310 threaded bar does not lose its mechanical properties despite exposure to extremely low temperatures. Hence industries that are involved in the production of refrigerant or cooling parts welcome the use of ASTM A479 UNS S31000 hex bar. With properties like superior toughness and low magnetic permeability,  ss 310 bright bar can sustain well in cryogenic temperatures. The astm a276 type 310 flat bar is a stainless steel grade that is recommended by most suppliers and manufacturers for applications which involve reducing sulphur environments containing hydrogen sulphide or H2S.

The JIS SUS 310 black bar is also widely used in reasonably carburising environments, like those found in petrochemical industries. However, it is not recommended to treat the 310 stainless steel welding rod to frequent liquid quenching as the material has a tendency to suffer from thermal shock. The most important characteristic of the  WNR 1.4841 square bar is that it is resilient to decay from – oxidation, sulphidation and carburisation.
